Hi all,

OK, I've posted about this before but I've changed enough of my setup that I think a new thread is in order despite having the same old issue.

Basically, my 2nd PC can't connect to my wireless network no matter what I do.

I have an Edimax draft-N wireless card in the 2nd PC.

I have a Belkin pre-N wireless router on the 1st.

The setup *used* to work before XP SP3 came out but then had an epic failure. I have now upgraded to a Vista setup and still can't connect to my wireless network so wonder if anyone might have some suggestions as to what I can check/try to get my network working fully.

Cheers.

Does it even see your wireless network?
Does it try and connect and then say limited or no connectivity or anything?

Hi,

It sees the network and tries to connect but then I get an error message saying cannot connect to network as the attempt was cancelled.

Cheers

I have the edimax card you have and before i bought it i read some reviews from people saying it wouldnt work with their n type router, try changing your router settings to g type so you can determine if this is what is causing it

could be a problem with vista and this wireless card on n networks, but do the above and it may shed some light on whats happening

Hiya,

Tried that and it still doesn't work.

Would be interested to know which n routers people were having issues with with the Edimax card.

I have the Belkin pre-n MIMO one and wonder if that's where the issue is.

Cheers.

I just did some quick research and found that theres only 1 comment on the n problems on a certain "rainforest" online shop, but the guy didnt give any details and he could just have no idea what hes talking about

Wireless networks can mess up sometimes, just mess around with settings e.g. change wireless network name and stuff and sometimes random stuff can fix problems, or maybe try taking the card out and inserting it into a different pci slot as if you installed vista with no sucess it's probaly hardware related, also try downloading the latest drivers and trying it with and without the edimax wireless utility

try different types of encryption e.g. WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc to determine potential compatbility issues.

Good call - might also be worthwhile trying to connect with all encryption temporarily disabled. This would allow you to ascertain if its the encryption that's possibly causing the connectivity issue.
