Can't decide if I've had a result or not?

Missus came home today and dumped a brand new Powercolor PCS+ HD 6870 in my lap - they had a few spare from work so she brought one home for me

Yay I thought, free upgrade, but now I have gone through a few old reviews, it seems that there is very little in it between a 470 and a 6870 @ 1920 x 1200, so Im wondering whether to bother swapping my gfx card out
On the plus side I probably will as the power draw is a lot less, but Im clocking the nuts off my 470, and Im not sure whether I can push the 6870 as hard..

Then again, it is shiny shiny

GTX 470 v HD 6870

As you have a good overclock on the GTX 470 you're not likely to see improved performance with a HD 6870.

This is a great idea. It's what I would do. You would surely be over halfway to a 7950.

probably would except that I haven't really felt that I need a new card yet. Can play everything I want at a respectable rate, was planning on waiting for the next gen before upgrading..

I Was just thinking about resale value of your currents card(s). There's certainly a strong case to be made for skipping what's out there just now.

Cash would be even better though, as it keeps the options open, AND without losing money on selling GPUs as 2nd hand

But yea...having missus bring home GPU is still much better than bring home a new pair of shoes for herself
