About to order today and upgrade current system,

option1v.jpg

or

option2x.jpg

Now ive never got into the world of overclocking and always had games and apps perform very good at stock speeds. Even current system handles BF3 beta very well at 60fps on HIGH.
However i really do want to upgrade the system. The 1st option was because of motherboard and ivy, as i want the system to be future proof as well for new cards etc.

But the second option is pre overclocked by you OCUK experts and i do see the benefit of better performance when over clocked. I really dont know what to do guys.

Plan to sell my mobo / ram / cpu on the members market as well once system rebuilt.

Use the first option - although you may want to add a third party cooler.

It's very simple to hit 4.4GHz (normally) with a SB setup. Pop into the BIOS and up the multiplier to 44 and usually the jobs done.

However it's better to disable a couple fo features and set up the memory (timings etc) and the core voltages manually - still a very simple process.

But i would advise that you at least read around the subject first so you can fine tune voltages and settings.

i currently have a Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler in this system, would that be ok for the new upgrade ?

I think you would need to find a bracket that would be compatible (if it's not got one already) - plus i've read that the Tuniq isn't as efficient at cooling quad cores (perhaps someone else with this cooler may be able to confirm this).

If it is a problem and funds are tight - the Gelid Tranquillo at £25 is a great buy.
