Ok so i have great friends on both Star Wars Galaxies and WoW and i love both games but cant decide which to play, at the moment i cant afford 2 subs so 1 has to go, which one would you choose ?

MMO's take up a lot of free time!

Edit: sorry that wasnt really a useful post. I played wow for a bit and it was fun, but once you have got to max level MMO's become a bit of a drag and take a lot of time to get to a high level. Eve online was a good looking game but not as "new user" friendly as wow

Never tried the Star Wars one you mentioned and have only played about two hours on WoW - did think the user interface was nice though, don't seem to remember the graphics were quite as awesome as people were making out though. I'll have a look at the Star Wars one and post back.

well on a good rig the starwars one looks awesome and wow just looks cartoony as always but i enjoy the gameplay of both but can only afford one sub right now.

Don't ever go near SWG, it was completely broken a few years ago and has never been the same since.

Google about for what is called the NGE. Totally killed the game, lost them nearly all their subscriptions.

Great shame, seeing as it used to be the best MMO by a stupidly long way.

WOW gay to the max now.

Well thought out point

Guild Wars is good stuff and has no monthly subs. However if you want something a little more polished WoW is the only one really. I find a lot new players to WoW are disapointed with due to leveling areas being quiet, but look around for a decent Guild with a good atmosphere and it should fly by.

Only other id recommend is Eve, has great depth but a steep learning curve

I had a go at WoW, its pretty fun and graphically soft and pleasing. Although for some reason, the only game that has managed to keep me hooked was Anarchy Online, before that - Legend of Mir and before Mir - Myth of Soma. The graphics are rubbish in AO but there is more variety and things to do.

However....

Anarchy Online is a bit like Eve in that the learning curve is wild, you'll probably play Anarchy and not have a clue untill your 6 months into playing.

No harm giving WoW a shot, its a well polished and graphically pleasing game.

Keep trying WoW and keep going back to Anarchy, looking forward to the big engine update..if it ever actually happens :D

On the subject of engine updates did you all know that "Project Entropia" will be updated with the Crytek Engine? I can remember playing that game way back in its beta, it wasnt so hot back then, not sure what its like now, but the engine update could become very influencial.

The problem with that game is £££ - I mean seriously, you want a gun in the game? you pay for it £! and same goes for all other character items.

You don't have to pay for items, but they decay so quickly that you can't make enough in game money by using them to break even, so injecting real money is needed.

Well, that's what it was like a couple of years back IIRC.

No body has mentioned Lord of the Rings online (LOTRO). I have just bought this as I have heard nothing but good things about the Mines of Moria expansion. Got the double pack for about 29.99 I believe and leveling two characters through.

I have played EQ2, WoW and more recently Age of Conan and WarHammer online. IMO LOTRO is one of the best and underrated one out there. It follows the basic WoW model but has added complexities and depth here and there. Some of the environments are superb and the classes great.

I have never had an MMO for which I had a high level goal. For WoW I only had early to mid level goals - get a mount, get heavy armour ability for instance. However beyond that I ran out out of goals, and to be honest did not look forward to end game. However I have a high level goal as I really want to see the Mines of Moria and cannot wait to get there. The community is strong and there seems to be a load of people running around every where. Finding a group is not a problem really. I also like the fact that I will follow the quest that the fellowship is going on through updated content and addons - this will definately keep me coming back until, hopefully, I see the whole thing through.

The only draw back I can see with this is that it is PvE heavy. The PvP is completely separate from the main game. Apart from that, I think it is great. People who have played it don't really have a bad thing to say about it, even if they did not resub post 30 day trial.

There is a 14 day trial from the web site so give it a go and see what you think.
