We were able to download on Live fine using DCHP enables settings, but now our network is set up with static IP addresses, and although we can connect to Live and play games online, we cannot download at all.

Are there any possible reasons as to why this might be?

I ran the Xbox test connection and it passed fine.

Just changed all my settings on both my router and my 360 back to auto/DCHP enabled and I still can't download yet I can connect/play games fine!

It attempts to start the download then just says Connection Lost!

Have you made sure the following ports (UDP 88, UDP 3074, and TCP 3074) are open on your router?

You shouldnt need anything open incoming in order to play on live or download from live. You only need UDP 3074 and TCP 3074 open incoming.

Are you filtering traffic leaving your network?

We reset the router back to factory settings.

I tried bypassing the router by just connecting it straight to the cable modem.

This time it failed the MTU test(which it had previously passed)

Xbox support told me this was a problem with NTL and that I need to ring them to increase my MTU.
