Can't enable S.M.A.R.T.

Hi.

Speedfan and HDD Health are not showing any harddrive temps at all. My motherbaord is a GA-965P-DS3 and my harddrive is a WD 1600AAJS 160GB SATA and I can't seem to enable SMART at all.

I've tried enabling SMART in the BIOS but it doesn't seem to do anything. I installed XP without SMART enabled and the harddrive is connected via the Gigabyte/JMICRON sata connector.

Whats wrong?

It's probably the JMicron controller drivers not reporting the SMART data through to the OS. This is very common with third party controllers or RAID drivers on southbridge controllers.

Would the Intel SATA connector transmit SMART?

It should do in legacy mode, not sure about AHCI mode and it probably won't in RAID mode.

Cool thanks. I might just leave it on the Jmicron because it seems to be running well at the mo.
