I've been hit by the above bug and it is getting on my nerves. I've tried numerous reset(s) and I've even tried the recovery menu. It even does it when resetting the phone and signing into my @googlemail account. I remember when I first booted the phone up and I didn't actually sign up as I didn't want to because I pressed "skip".
I've looked all over and tried all available options to rectify the problem. Although it just keeps popping up.
Could it be the SIM card itself? Do you need credit when trying to sign in/up to using a @googlemail account? (I currently have no credit added to the SIM card) as I use it only for Wi-Fi.
I try it on Wi-Fi and it fixes it until I switch the phone off and turn it back on and then the problem is back.
I'm really starting to lose hope and that's why I decided to come here and ask for advice. Android can be a real pain in the backside sometimes. :/
Technical details: My phone is: Samsung Galaxy Y (GTS5360). My vendor/provider is Vodafone (UK). Version of Android is 2.3.6 (Gingerbread).
Thanks in advance guys.
PS: If worst comes to worst I'll take the phone back to the shop, but that wastes my warranty which I want to avoid. Also I would not like to root my phone because that also voids the warranty.
