Hey guys im after a real small low profile heatsink/fan for my new HTPC but can't find anything that suits my needs anywhere!

I am using a Silverstone LaScala LC19R Slimline HTPC Case as below:

I am using an AMD mITX socket FM2 motherboard and at the moment I am using the stock heatsink/fan and although the lid only just about fits on the problem is the fan is sat right against the lid and even though there are small ventilation holes its not getting enough air and the fan makes a horrible noise!

Anyone know of any really low profile coolers? I've even looked at 1U server cooling but pretty much nothing about for socket FM2 etc. Its only a low power Richland CPU/APU so don't need anything crazy.

Cheers in advance for any help :)

Maximum supported cooler height for the case is 37mm :)

The Noctua would probably be the best option, but its exactly 37mm tall.

Is it a quad core FM2 CPU or a dual? A friend here has this one in a VERY small case with a FM2 A4-5300 and he says it works fine and isn't audible from a couple of feet away.

Thanks very much guys help is much appreciated, think I will go on the hunt for the silverstone one as it looks like it will work nicely and save me cutting such a nice case up :)

Its only a Richland A4-4000 so just a dual core, its only getting hot now as the fan is pretty much blocked from sucking in air because its jammed up against the lid!

May I suggest tracing the pattern for the holes in the case and extending them towards the fan with a drill?

If you get the correct size bit and maybe some black paint spray to touch up it would look great!

EDIT:Just googled the case for more pictures. Plenty of holes. I would recommend what Resident said.

Pretty gutted right now, bought the Silverstone low profile cooler and it wont fit because there is a random capacitor near the CPU sticking out which hits the heatsink before it screws down

Trying to decide whether I need to get the dremmel out and nip a square bit out the corner or send it back and try something else, thinking the dremmel needs to make an appearance though to be honest...

Are you likely to sell the heatsink again? And do you want to wait even longer for something else? If the answer to both of those questions is no, break out the dremel. :)

It seems because AMD chips run hotter than Intel, the coolers are about 20mm wider for AMD chips. So you would have the same problem with the Noctua NH-L9a and the Gelid I linked in a previous post. And the fact your mobo uses tall capacitors does`nt help either.
So, at the moment, the Dremel looks your best bet, what ever you decide to cut, case or cooler.
