Planning on overclocking this, but I cant find where the HTT is, was told i should take it to 4.

Any other advise welcome, first time overclocking, I've read the sticky :)
Thanks.

If you can't find HTT multiplier in the BIOS, have a look for LDT and set this to 800MHz.

htt is prolly in the first screen you go into top one on the left going off my bios

the one with the cpu settings in.
in order to change these you need to change it from default so you can then change the settings.

heya ns400r, girl is pleased with xp, doesn't appreciate the hassle in finding drivers though haha.

update.. dropped what i thought was htt, and cpu-z confirms that it was from 1000 to 800, took the core speed to 210, checked it, was fine, 220, fine, 225 came up with 100 warnings no errors, but i figured that this was a baad thing as this was within 30 seconds of testing, now i cant boot it at all, can get into bios, but thats it.

pretty new to this stuff, had to format it a lot recently due to my attempted overclocking, is this needed?

Changed the settings from default etc, still nothing to do with htt.
weird how it wont load windows and keeps restarting itself :S even with it all set at default, im pretty sure it wasnt the temperatures either.

the board is an asus a8v
If it's a A8V Deluxe revision 1 then that's your problem as it doesn't have a working agp/pci lock.

I used to have the same board ( memories ) and it would top out at around 215fsb before throwing a wobbly

and corrupting my OS install to the point where only a format would fix it.

Edit: Look for a setting in the bios for clock synchronization mode and set it to 33/66. If you haven't got the

option then I'm affraid your board is a revision 1, and your overclocking will be severely limited.

did you get a better mobo? if so, what?
read that the 3200+ venice is a good overclocker.
Yes, I bought a msi k8n neo 2 Platinum which is probably the best skt 939 (agp) overclocking board that you can buy.

(You can pick them up for about £35 second hand and it'll do your 3200+ proud).

I've since made the switch to pci-e (many a moon ago actually) and have lost count of the number of boards I've had since switching.

Merry Chrimbo. :)
