When i try to set this setting it puts aspect ratio 4:3 on but when i try anything below it like 1270/720 it goes fullscreen but not for my monitors native resolution of 1280*800,any ideas why this is?

I have a 4650 512mb and 10.2 catalyst.

when i try both the same things happen,it seems to go into 4:3 box mode with black borders on both sides.im puzzled by it to be honest.

not sure i bought it second hand with no cd,it's a liteview 15.4" monitor.i tried searching about the monitor but liteview seem to be a fairly unknown company.

Right ok, is there a sticker on the rear of the monitor with a model number, maybe try searching that.

You could also try rolling back to the original disc drivers for your HD4650, and see if you still have the same trouble.

Just found this , I know it doesn't really help you as they don't link to any driver downloads, but it shows there is a problem with that res display, and more than likely can be sorted through drivers, ill have a hunt for some

thanks a lot for checking this out for me,dont suppsoe u could find the actual driver i need i dont have a clue.

I have had a quick google round, I can't even find an official website for the manufacturer's of the monitor, my guess is they're out of business now. I think your going to be extremely lucky to find these drivers, I think the only way it could be done is by someone who also has the monitor and can send you the drivers via email, msn etc

its weird this only happens on 4650 when my other x700 and the build in g31 graphics worked fine at the resolution.

From what ive read about the problem that other people have had with the monitor its to do with what windows see's the monitor as. I can't explain it very well lol. But when you plug the monitor in without any drivers, windows automatically see's it as a 'plug and play' device, and so only windows settings are available, unfortunately windows doesn't cater for all monitors, and thats where the drivers change the windows registories to create a file that can be used to change the settings

ok i think i understand, but i thought that its just the ati driver that sorts it all out but i am thinking there are two,a ati and a windows one?Anyway i still not found a solution for this so unless anyone else has the driver ill just have to pass on this.

Yeah thats pretty much it, there is the ATi driver for your card, then a driver for your monitor, because you drivers for the monitor are not installed, pre-configured windows drivers (plug and play supported) take over, but do not offer all of the features of the proper drivers.
