Just done a new rebuild, total change from AMD to Intel CPU & board
Win XP SP2 32bit
I reused my old case so fitted the original mobo etc in another cheapo case. I intended to do a file transfer but something went wrong as my old setup won't recognise my sata drive anymore altho it does with the IDE drive & no problem there.
I tried the 74 gig Raptor sata drive in my new PC & selected to delete & reinstall windows. I got as far as the deleting bit but it said it couldn't recognise a proper partiton or similar wording & there was only 8 meg left so couldn't install on that & I can't get any further apart from a reformat which I
don't want to do until I get the info off

Tried to load the drive in safe mode to delete all its drivers but it flashes a blue screen( to quick to read it) & restarts over.
My best bet is to try & get my old PC to recognise the drive
Is there a way to make the mobo ( Asus A8V)recognise the drive by using a floppy or anything? Is there a way to access or repair the drive in my new PC? It recognises it but if I load windows on my other drive it won't show up in 'My Computer'

You could try repairing the FAT (file allocation table), as the drive was originally formatted on a different motherboard, the new board may not recognise the FAT correctly, this should fix it.

Problem is it won't let me repair the drive unless theres a different way to do it
other than booting from XP disk .

Is there a way to do it with a command prompt from a floppy disk for e.g.?
