Hey guys, so I got one of my old PC's up and running after a bit of faffing around, but now I can't get it to boot. The optical drive is set as the primary master, and there is a bootable DVD in the drive (Windows 7 Home Premium x64) but whenever it tries to boot, it pauses for a moment, and hangs on a 'boot0: error' and it won't go any further.

Any idea what is going on? I need to get this PC up and running ASAP so I can sell it to a friend for cheaps.

The specs are:

AMD Athlon 6000+ @ 3.4GHz w' AC Freezer 64 Pro
MSI K9A Platinum
4GB (4x 1GB) Corsair XMS2 667MHz @ 775MHz
PowerColor HD3870 512MB
Maxtor Diamondmax 320GB (SATA)
DVD-RW (IDE) - have tried two different drives
600W WinPower PSU (I know, it hasn't exploded yet! :D)

Cheers all :)

Can you select the disk drive manually, in the boot order?
IDE cable in decent condition and plugged in properly?

Its a pretty old system, the boot order is determined only by where the jumpers on the drives are, and which connector along the IDE cable they are plugged into if you have it set to 'cable select' (I think) :D almost retro :p

The IDE cable is in good condition yeah. I have plenty more IDE cables I can try though, I might do that in a moment.

Well no, cos I need the HDD connected so I have something to install the OS to :p

Not got a SATA drive or if the motherboard supports SATA that is?
Seems a strange error to be making, sure them jumpers are set right, way before my technolgy time though to even hazard a guess at that aha!

So err... Funny story *ahem*

I found a section in the BIOS which I had forgotten existed... Guess what you can do in that section?

Yep! Set the boot order! :D

Sorry!!!

It has been a long time since I have dealt with this system haha! :D
