Already ran into a few issues, had no display on monitor so checked everything over, must need 2 cables in the gpu (gigabyte 5700 xt) so sorted that, still no display. Plugged HDMI into GPU instead and it worked.

Then I get a message something about system memory has changed. Asks me if I want to boot in safe mode/normal but when I do the Win7 screen appears saying welcome but its massive like zoomed in, and it doesn't get to desktop it just restarts. Another time it asked me to choose an operating system, only option was win7 so I selected that but the same happened.

At one point I did manage to see the mobo logo so I hit delete and got into bios (msi b450 tomahawk max) to find ddr speed is 2133 when it should be 3200 what's that about??

I brought my ssd to the front of the queue for boot priority, saved and exit but nothing changed I'm going round in circles

By 2 cables I assume you mean the 2 PCIE power cables, and not 2 cables to the monitor?

Seeing that you have a B450 motherboard, I assume that you are using a Ryzen CPU, in which case those CPUs have no onboard GPU so using a GPU is required and your monitor will need to be plugged into it and not the motherboard.

That's quite normal on a new system, but it shouldn't be happening on every boot.

I assume this Windows 7 install has come from a previous computer? In which case that's far from ideal. Using Windows 7 full stop is really not a good idea either.

You will need to enable XMP in BIOS to get the full speed.

I've got windows 10 on a USB ready but wanted to get to desktop first before I started installing
Ill leave the ram issue for now see if I can get this working first

I've left it for a bit and just trying again now. Asks me do I want to boot in safe/normal, I select normal, chunky windows 7 welcome screen then it starts again.

I'm assuming its asks me that because I'm having to shut down the pc using the power button instead of doing it properly

Yes it's giving you that option due to a failed boot.

Why do you need to get to the Windows 7 desktop before installing Windows 10?

I just figured I should know the pc works first before I start that
Do you think I should just go straight to upgrade?

Once again I create my own issues lol
I booted from USB and I'm now on my windows 10 desktop
Thank you for your help though :-)

You're welcome!

Keep it simple in future though. If a machine powers on and displays something, it's generally working :D

Enjoy!
