Hello lovely people!
I'm hoping someone can help.
I built a new rig from scratch - figured I'd be ok as built & upgraded my old one, but it's been a decade or so lol.

For some reason I've got case & CPU fans going, but no GPU power & no BIOS. Also no light on the keyboard or mouse so guessing they're not getting picked up.

What I've tried so far:

- Re-seated & checked all power connections
- Everything in but no GPU (HDMI straight into motherboard)
- 1 RAM only (all combinations of sticks & slots) no GPU
- Removing MB battery & waiting 30mins, then above again

Now, my PSU didn't come with 8pin + 4pin for CPU power - however I read that 8pin is sufficient if I'm not OCing, so that's how I have it. However I suspect this is the problem? If so I'll have to wait til I can get a 4pin PSU cable & try again.

Any other thoughts?

Many thanks in advance :)
Howie

You sure? I thought that PSU had 2x cables with 1x EPS 12v each, which splits apart to make 4+4.

How long do you wait for boot? DDR5 boards can take a looooooooong time.

I think support for the X3D has been present since the board was released, but you may want to consider a flash as a last resort before it goes back (board has flashback).

Did you try DP too?

- 1 RAM only (all combinations of sticks & slots) no GPU

I'd make sure the 1 stick is in the right slot (usually 2nd from CPU) while you troubleshoot.

Not sure i know enough about AM5 to give suggestions on fault finding, but the PSU should come with 2 x ATX 12V cables.

Taken from the product description.
Connectors2 x 4+4-pin ATX 12V
4 x 4-pin Molex
3 x 6+2-pin PCIe
7 x SATA

What case have you got?

Are all the standoffs in the correct places?

Could try building out of the case to see if it works. (use the motherboard box not the anti-static bag to rest the board on)

Cables with your PSU should be more than enough for any installation…

“BOX CONTENTS
1x 24-pin ATX (24-pin) Connector
2x ATX 12V/EPS12V (4+4-pin) Connectors
3x PCIe (6+2) Connectors
7x SATA Connectors
4x PATA Connectors”

I'd look to use the flashback function and install BIOS Version 1654, I just built a machine with one of these board and it came with a BIOS from May which was terrible for memory training and compatibility, took several minutes to POST on the first boot with a 2x16GB Corsair 6000MT/s kit, new BIOS fixed all the problems I was seeing and machine worked fine.

Do also check the RAM is seated properly DDR5 is way worse than DDR4, and it can cause problems if it isn't. :)

Thank you all so much! Still probably the best forum on the interweb :)

- Didn't realise one of the power cables literally splits in half... Wasn't at all obvious to my untrained eye(!) So added that for the missing power.
- I did indeed have the Memory in the wrong slots. I had put them in A1 B1 and they needed to be in A2 B2 (surely the primary slots should be called "1"...). Made sure to seat them absolutely right.

That sorted the booting problem & got the GPU spinning up. Then I had the issues getting stability & the features (wifi, bluetooth) working.
- Flashing the BIOS as recommended & then some driver updates seemed to fix that (thankfully I had an ethernet cable spare, though a short one, so set it up in the other room lol)

So now it's alive and kicking bottom!

Thanks again, very happy bunny :)

Cheers,
Howie
