Can't get PSU to CPU cable for Corsair Modular?

I please need some help here. I’m so freaked out.
I’m putting together a new build and can’t get a CPU power cable that is a Type 3 on either side!? It’s a Corsair modular PSU. It’s a Type 3 on the board – so round + square + square + round on one row. And square + round + round + square on the second row. It’s the same on the PSU? I just can’t find a cable with the same connectors on either end and can’t figure for the life of me why this was not supplied with the PSU. Am I being really stupid here? Please can anyone suggest a solution?

Looking online at this problem, it seems to be common.

The plug with the wide clip (should split into 2x4 pin) goes to the motherboard.

Apparently the shape does not matter as long as you don't force it in.

Can only assume this is because sockets on diffent motherboards are not the same.

Please do confirm this with Corsair first though.

Example of what i found.

Freddie64 – Thanks mate!! Solved. U r the man. Thank you!

Even though the author of your post link solved their issue, yet never told anyone the solution once they did which is so rude, someone popped up at the end with the solution – the shapes of the connectors don’t matter (in this case I presume), and that if it’s 8x, has CPU written on it which it does, and does not fit the shapes on the board just try click it in anyways (and it’s the wider click-clip connector). It clicked in fine, and the correct shaped-one fits the PSU perfect. Been running all day no probs. So relieved! Shweet.

Ryzen7, 12gb graphics, 32gb ram. 960gb SSD. Stoked all the way!

@chroniclard. OCD I presume, lol. Will do! Just happy it's all working thank god. I didn't want any interior lighting as it's an industrial soundproofed windowless case yet now have RGB ram and another bit on the board that can be light controlled. Not gonna see it, ever! Told my kid we can place a cam inside to view if needed, lol.

Glad i could help. Although the guys in the link did all the proper work. :p

Agree about the guy not saying how he resolved it.

Also agree with chronic about the cables (i do have cable OCD :D).

Beleive it does help with case airflow to have cables tucked away.

Nice rig anyway and glad it is up and running. :)

If you haven't done already pull another pcie cable from the psu to your graphics card, the twin 8 pin pcie board connectors should be powered by separate cables not off daisy connectors on a single cable.
