Can't get rid of old programme!!!

I'm cleaning up a friends PC and have solved about 98% of the problems, however one old product - no longer used (a basic broadband/modem application from NTL) still produces a "please load the broadband installation CD" window at startup as the desktop appears (we're talking XP here).

I've tried;

Uninstalling it - but couldn't find it on the start/apps menu
Manually deleting the old prog from the C drive/programmes
Deleting references to it in the registry etc

but it still produces the same window at start up!!!!

Any ideas about how to track it down and kill it????????

If you have the original CD, I trhink there should be a utility on that to uninstall it.

It will have an entry in startup somewhere, remove it from there. In the context of computers, programme is "program". It's an American thing.

run 'hijackthis' on it and post the log here, should be pretty obvious which entry needs to be removed to get rid of it

hijackthis scans all your startup entries for windows (well the main ones)

Download and run unlocker (right click mouse) on the file and see if it has a locking programme. Use options to unlock if need be or delete the next time you boot up
