Cant get SMART to work!

I've downloaded a couple of programmes to monitor my hard drives temperature (HDDLife & HDD Thermometer) but they cant seem to find the SMART data from the drive, i checked the bios and it is definitely enabled!
Even WD's own LifeGaurd diagnostic tool cant find the SMART status!!! :(

its a WD Raptor 150GB (WD1500ADFD) and im running Vista-32

any help appreciated!!
 
I'm not sure if this is Vista being over protective or something else. The usual reason for not beiing able to access the SMART data is that the drive is in a RAID array and the controller drivers aren't able to access individual drives. Now you state that you've only got the one drive so that tends to suggest that it's Vista rather than the drivers.
