Hi thanks for looking.

I have been having problems trying to get windows 11 to install on my Kingston 1tb a2000 m2 nvme ssd. The motherboard is a gigabyte z690 gaming board.

The problem is in the bios settings if I set boot option to uefi, when I get to drive options in win setup the drive is showing but I can't repartition it format it nothing. And Windows says it can't be installed on this drive. So I change boot to legacy them I'm presented with a message saying my pc does not meet the requirements to install windows 11 right after selecting my version of windows from the list.

I installed windows on a sata ssd no problems but my nvme drive is not showing in windows explorer. When I check the nvme options in the bios this also reports that no drives are installed. I'm stumped.

Any one know a work around please?

Thanks.

Which slot do you have the drive installed in? And have you enabled M.2 in the BIOS?

It's in the outer slot as the heatsink won't go on if it's in the inner slot. As far as I know it's enabled in the bios. It's strange because Windows setup sees it but won't install on it.

Thanks.

That's weird if the motherboard's heatsink for the M.2 doesn't go on. I'd want the drive in the M.2 slot nearest the CPU slot on your motherboard.

There's only one slot, well 2 in one. The drives are stacked that's what I mean. But if I put the drive in the slot closest to the mother board, the heatsink is nowhere near it.
