I have just got my hand on a q9550 I have a ABIT IP35-e mainboard flashed with the 30/05/2008 bios

bear in mind I have just spent 2 hours seating reseating cpu/fan

In bios it reads 98c and wont boot into vista all settings on default.

I have put 2180 back in at moment any ideas ?

the six raised lumps on bottom of cpu, come into contact with some on mainboard?

Unlikley, have a look at the cpu is the green bit flat or does it have a bent corner.

What CPU cooler are you using it sounds like its not fitted correctly?

Was it a new Q9550 retail boxed? Does the chip look ok? What stepping is it?
The Abit site does not break the CPUs down very well and just says Q9550 and does not sate C1 or E0.

Hopefully somebody here can confirm the newer E0 stepping is ok on this board.

nope , the 9550 in bios still sits at 98c/208f and wont boot all the way into vista

new MB time I reckon,

what board do I need to OC this puppy ?

Your board should work with it...
but if you are upgrading I would go with a P5Q series or the Gigabyte UD3 series

i know it should work, I'd rather not spend the cash but I need to get it working and have spent all day and getting nowhere.

I can get into bios but have no Mulipler adjustment with this cpu, and its reading 98c !

Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 or

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L or Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

cheapest one?

Is there not a chance it's the CPU not the mobo?

I don't suppose you have another compatible mobo or a friend with one to hand do you?

Does your Mobo support 45nm chips? the Q9550 is 45 nm, some mobos dont support it.. i quickly searched ABIT IP35-e and it didnt say anything about being 45nm compatible, maby it had a bad spec details page..

I just reflashed once more whacked the 9550 in and now it works spent all day messing around with it. Was getting mega stressed ! but now it works so happy days.

what do these E0 9550 clock like?

can i expect 3.8?
