Cant log in since update! Deleting blob does nothing. Please help

As we probably all know and have experienced at some point Steam's customer service help is cr@p. Its been 3 days and no reply.

Here is my problem.

Ever since the steam client update for L4D2 i have been unable to log into steam.

Ive contacted my ISP and nothing has changed and there is no problem with router or any settings as nothing has changed for a long time. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled steam on my pc and the problem persists.

When i try to log in with one of my accounts i get the message:
'Steam is having trouble connecting to the steam servers.'

BUT if i make up an account and it doesnt exist i get this message:
'Login to steam failed.
Either the specified account does not exist, or the password is wrong.'

Knowing this im starting to think the problem is at their end as i imagine it is sending the login info to Steam, and thenthey are sending back that it is a valid account and should be able to log in (thus it knows when an account isnt real) and then when it trys to connect and access the steam servers im getting the trouble.
This happens on both my win 7 pc and the vista pc in the other room so i know it isnt to do with OS updates.

And both my flat mates are on win 7 and on vista with the same updates and same steam update, yet they can both still log in :confused:

BUT they dont have to input their password as it is saved to remember it.
For some reason when Steam updated it got rid of my saved password, and now wont log in...

Ive reinstalled steam and it hasnt helped. Ive deleted the blob files and let it re download them (as steam updates before login) and still nothing

Please help! All of my games work through steam so i have zero games i can play :(
 
yeah i had this issue , the only way to fix it is to completely uninstall your steam and reinstall it and it will work.

the update that was released yesterday on some computers caused steam to not login and when you tryed to it would give you a error.

i fixed it with a uninstall then reinstall.

ok edit: i completely jumped gun lol before reading the post completely, you have a diffrent issue, mine was caused by the rescent steam app update not game update.

Also on the subject of resetting my password it is impossible.

Reason being when you reset a steam password you are sent a code to enter and a question to answer. And here is my question to answer:

'What did customer support last reset your passphrase to?'

Yeh. They didnt think about that did they. I dont know my damn password, thats why im trying to reset it! lol.

but as for the problems with logging in ive been using a gameless account i have and i still cant log in.
 
Passphrase and password are two different things though ?

I couldn't remember the exact spelling of my passphrase for ages either though to be fair - it's not something I ever thought I'd need to use!
