I tried the other options, but I get a blank screen after. the only recent hardware/softwares changes I did was update my graphic drivers to 84.25 3days ago for Oblivion. I'v also tried changing Ram, All the fans seem to be running ok. same problem:*( I would've reinstalled Winodows but I have important files in there I need to get to:(

Please help me

Can't help with your problem - those screenshots just show the normal process when booting into safemode though, so nothing odd there. The fact it doesn't go anywhere from there is odd though :S

I'd download one of the Linux live CD's like Knoppix and get all your important data off the hard drive, then its not crucial what happens to the installation after that.

Whats the last entry in that list before your machine hangs/reboots? Even just the file name (i.e hal.dll, mup.sys) would be a big hint

There are methods to get access to the file system using live CDs and boots CDs which can be used to extract your data in the worst case, so your data should be recoverable but it would be nice to not have to resort to that :)

I get that garbled screeny I posted when I select Safe mode, it doesnt move from there. and when I select the other options I get a blank screen.

I'll find out what the last entry is on the screen, be right back

multi(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\drivers\btkrnl.sys

I dont know if I typed it right.

:(

OK, that looks like your bluetooth driver (although its actually the driver loaded immediately after the last one listed thats the problem).

Hopefully you're not one of those uberl33t tw3ak0rz who disables system restore :)

First of all, try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=304449

If you cant load into a command prompt, fish out your XP install CD and follow this guide TO THE LETTER

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=307545

If neither of these fixes have any effect then its time to get hold of a knoppix CD and an external disk/ USB caddy :|

Good luck

I had a similar problem to this where I could only login to Windows via Safe Mode. So I went into the recovery console from the XP disk and loaded up my HDD in CMD prompt and then typed fixboot. This then fixes the boot record for the login proccess, restart and everythin should be ok. I would suggest doing a chesk disk as well = chkdsk /p & chkdsk /r then re-booting your computer. :)

If that fails try typing fixmbr into the recovery console then re-boot computer ;)

I got it sorted!!! :) :) I did try that help file link you provided, I kept getting the same problem, and I’ve had no sleep yet stayed up all night trying to sort this out, tried everything. In the end, I reset the CMOS battery, it worked, went straight into Safe mode. And Thank God for system restore:)

I got an assignment to hand in tomorrow, and all my work files was in the PC, almost cried my eyes out earlier, 4 months of hard work. So glad I didn’t give up. I’m all sorted now. Got everything I need now, made quick back up on some DVDS.

I never want to go through experience again. External hard drive here I come

Thanks for all your help guys:)

PS: ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF GUYS.

Thanks again:)
