Pretty much the title.

Something happened to my machine today and everything slowed down, a lot. All my themes then changed. This all happened while I was trying to download a new theme for W7, but it wasn't working properly.

I then restored my machine back to when it was working fine, but now I can only open programs for about 1 minute after I've pressed the on-button. After that I can only use in-built features of W7 and use programs I've already opened.

This is really starting to annoy me so if anyone has any ideas please share, I've checked for Malware but Malware Bytes says I have none. Please help,

Kind Regards,
Laser man

Have a look at a HiJack this log from within the 60 seconds, and then from after it.

Also, when you say you can't launch programs, what happens exactly? Is it absolutely nothing, or do you get an error/crash?

It just goes to the loading cursor for a while then stops. If I go onto Task Manager and processes it shows me that they're running, but only using 104k memory and usually 0% CPU

Does sound like a virus of some sort. Have you tried doing a scan?

Yeh, I've done a scan and it didn't show anything. Whatever it is has come back after I did a second full restore, any ideas? It's taking the **** a bit now :(

Run the system file checker by opening a command prompt as an Admin and typing sfc /scannow and hitting enter. When finished restart.

You could try creating a new profile to see if the same problem keeps happening. Im wondering if your profile has been corrupted perhaps.

I'd have formatted long ago if the problem was bugging me and I couldn't find a quick remedy.

I make a 100gb partition on all my hard drives for windows so if I start to have problems I just flatten it and re install windows, it can be a pain to re install all your games but if it is running that bad they probably not workin anyway.

if it happens again, u could try running msconfig, then see what programs are set to run at start up

preventing them from being started might fix the problem, then u'll know what program is at fault

its not nessesarily a virus thou
