Hello guys, I'm new in this community, so Hello to you all.
I have a problem, which I hoped you will help me to solve.

I recantly bought mb - asus p5p41c, was trying to oc my e8400, but even if I want to get 3.2ghz, but after restart there's only black screen. I know it's a p41 chipset, and it's not for overclocking, but with my last g31 chipset I was able to get 3.6ghz. So kinda hoped, to get with this one too, or a little bit higher.
The bios version is 0502, strange thing is that I can find any information about this bios, and on asus support site it's not available.

Here's screen from bios.

I thought that maybe downgrading bios will help, but ez flash wont allow it. And for some reason afudos and awdflash doesnt make any response to changing it to older 0402 version.

So, I hope that you can help me.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Usually when Asus removes a bios it's because it caused more problems than it cured. Have you tried the latest 0604 version?

I have just downloaded and had a look at the manual for your board and it does have a half decent choice of overclocking options. When you increase the fsb are you adjusting the speed of your ram so that it does'nt go over it's rated speed? You do this in the Dram Frequency settings. What ram do you have by the way?

Update the bios as stated using ezflash from bios menu.
Then you will need to manually set the CPU/RAM divider and frequency.

The chipset is still better then a G31 and should get you to 400mhz FSB or as close as.

Let us know when you got the BIOS done and we can find the FSB limit.

That was kinda nice, that they released new bios version today. Updated it. For some reason I start to think, that I dont know **** about overclocking. In this bios, ram frequency automaticly jumps 2x fsb, in old one there was just 400,667 and 800.

Anyway, cpu frequency 400, dram frequency 800, vcore voltage +150mv and memory voltage 2.0000 didnt work.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong ? Here's some specifics:

Cpu frequency no 200-800
Ram frequency no 2xfsb-1100
PCI express frequency no 90-150
Memory voltage max - 2.4450V
NB voltage max - 1.51875V
VTT voltage max - 1.59375V
SB 1.5V voltage - [1.5V] [1.6V]
CPU vcore from +50mv to +150mv
Auto PSI [enabled][disabled]

I have DDR2 800mhz ram.

If you check the CPU Support for your motherboard you'll see it lacks support for any of the 400 FSB cpus.

I tried overclocking on a Gigabyte G41 motherboard and it was exactly the same where it wouldn't post anywhere near 400 FSB. I think the max was around 340 FSB which is a joke really.

I suspect there is nothing you can do so buying a P43 or P45 motherboard might be your only option to get 400+ FSB.

You need to set the CPU multiplier in CPU settings lower then default.
Alkso going right for 400mhz FSB is a bit presumptios.

The only good news is P41 is slightly better then G31/G41 for FSB.
BUT! some CPU's have a FSB wall, that is nothing to do with the chipset.
Anyway, try it like this;

Keep memory as close to 800mhz and set the ram timings to manual (they should set at cas5,5,5 24(ish) this wil do.
Now set the CPU multiplier to 7.5x and start to ramp up the FSB, start at 333(default) and try 350, 366, 370,375,380,385 and so on till you get failed boot.
Always reset your memory frequency after you change the FSB to get it as close to 800mhz as possible, it changes slightly each time.
