Every single time i try to print something in Internet Explorer 9, this message comes up -

And nothing prints. Searching on google has some ideas, none of which works. Anyone else have this ?

Edit - Should say, printing in Firefox & Chrome works fine.

are you getting this error when printing from the tools menu or from pages that have "print" links in them? if the latter, it's probably the page that is broken.

i assume printing from everything else works fine?

Both, links and the tools menu :( Yeah printing works fine on all other programs like Word etc.

that's odd. i'd only expect to see that error from dodgy pages, not the IE application itself.

a few things:

can you remember the last time it worked and anything you've installed/changed since then?
system restore perhaps?
or try tools>internet options>advanced>reset all settings?
try starting with no add ons. (start>all programs>accessories>system tools>internet explorer (no addons) )

Why are you using IE anyway?

And the most useful post of the day goes to.....

Some people have to use IE9 for certain things (such as Sharepoint, etc.) and some people actually, and I know you'll find this hard to believe, actually like IE9.

I'd personally reset all settings and check extensions (disable them one at a time or just bin the whole lot and start again).

I have just checked it to see if it was a patch, etc. but it seems fine here.

Sorry for not replying sooner...

Tried with all add-ons disabled, same thing :/ Reset IE too to no avail.

Wouldnt surprise me if its some incompatibility with the new IE vs my printer (Lexmark X5495) or something daft like that :/

good grief no. javascript has nothing to do with java whatsoever. and a browser shouldn't need either enabled to print.

Well actually some printer drivers have a pre-req of Java but that's beside the point. I would normally agree but the error is pointing to a javascript file so it may be worth looking into.

It's certainly not going to hurt.

You dont perhaps used Avast AV? I found another forum where someone had this issue and they fixed it by turning off Avast and then doing what Six6siX said:

Try

Code:
regsvr32 ole32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll

in cmd

Either that or do a repair on IE9, back to default settings

Thanks for replies. Registered the DLL's, repaired/rest IE, even uninstalled Java, still wont print :(

I use MSE Deception, might try removing it and try printing then.

Can you do a System Restore? Or reinstall IE9?

You're missing the point. Java is not JavaScript. They are two completely separate languages. Reinstalling Java won't fix any kind of JavaScript error, or vice versa.

So after resetting IE9, uninstalling MSE, Silverlight and Java (then reinstalling them). It turns out simply uninstalling the printer and reinstalling (same drivers) now lets me print in IE9 again ....

Why oh why didnt i just do that in the first place  I guess everything else printing fine threw me off ....

Anyway thanks for the help guys, now sorted :)
