Can't remove graphics card (nVidia 8600 GS)

Have you no way of improving the pics? Looks like the panel above the cards at the rear (outside) needs removing, but can't see how from that pic. What's the model number of the system?

why what will that do??

Let you remove the card...

Aye, that's just a locking tab. Just make sure that when you install your new card it is fully into the slot and the card is solidly screwed into the case.

man im really making a mess of this...............got a new 5850 coming aswell dont know how to get this card out and already broken the locking clip albeit not the end of the world but still couldve been much worse, this is giving me a real headache.

The black square thing (the lower of the two) when moved to the unlock position will allow you to move the bracket covering the section on the card where it is screwed in (on the case).

BINGO

unlocked the black square thing, pulled open the bracket and it came out, i took it all out and then put it back in just to check the broken locking clip didnt mean i couldn't put it back in.

Thank you very much swordfish and everyone else who tried to help, ive been pulling my hair. its a very different way to take a gfx card out the others you have to unscrew something or other, theres none of that here.

Slide the black tab down and that plate will unlock, you then remove that and it will give you access to the screw holding the card in place :) plus unplug your monitor. If this is the PC I am thinking of I know a few people who have had a similar issue.

Stoner81.

EDIT - I see it has been sorted I didn't read all the way down lol!

just one last thing can u reassure me of lol :p

i know i just tried it with my 8600 GS but just because i broke the locking clip doesnt mean i wont be able to install my 5850 when it comes will i??? i can do what i just did and just push it in, connect the monitor and lock the panel again so it stays in place?

Right undo the cable from the back of the pc leading to the monitor then on the back of the case holding in the gfx card is a metal bracket ( this covers all the the external covers for the pci/pci-e slots ) this needs to be unclipped then ( not now because you broke it ) the yellow clip on the motherboard needs to be pressed down lightly and then you will be able to remove the card.

sry already sortted for some reason the site did'nt load up all posts straight away
