I appearantly have a Virus. How do I know this? Well everytime I open my documents/my videos/my music then I get told my norton that I have a virus. The file is c_1les.dll and it's a 'downloader' I have done a full system scan and norton can't do anything with it. I can't manually delete it. Spybot doesn't pick it up and I have even tried a third party file shredder to no avail.

What can I do to get rid of it?

Use something that ISN'T norton, or find out where the files are and boot into safe mode where you can manually delete them.

Can I actually delete it in safe mode then?

Normally yes you can. In Safe Mode XP loads only the basics (which wont include a virus running in the background) so you can delete it without "This file is in use". Also clear your system restore files just incase it's hiding in there.
1) Boot into safe mode (keep pressing F8 before XP splash screen)
2) Run Anti-virus scan
3) Reboot back into XP (normal mode) and scan to see if it's gone. Also try doing what activates the virus warning. If nothing, great but if the virus still there go to 4
4) Clear your system restore files and rescan in safe mode.
5) Post your "HiJackThis!" log as well

Sounds like a random placed dll, ide have a HJT log checked out see what else is hiding in there, deleting it may possibly cause it to rename itself depending on the type of infection/malware but you can give it a whirl see if it works.

I can't delete from safe mode. Something about the file being in use.

What other anti-virus programs are good and that I can download as a trial?
