Can't resist any longer!

Right, looks like it's either move out quickly or get a bike a move out later... This on hold until i (we) can decide what we want.

I think i have decided on what i want however, after seeing and hearing it. The Triumph Street Triple R, i love it! Ride position looks fine for me but will test ride.

This is my configuration

The only problem is.... the price! Would probably get the accessories separately and fit them myself i think...

great bike is the Street Triple R, I rode one for 6 months and loved it. So much character and a real reach of an engine. The uprated brakes are also awesome.

I love my Street Triple R, a couple of things on those accessories though:

Ohlins shock, massively pointless for a new rider on the road, on the track it might make a tiny tiny difference but still not worth £765. The standard suspension is good.

I also wouldn't bother with the alarm personally, or look at the cost of getting one fitted aftermarket, and also how much the difference in insurance is.

You do need the Arrows though, and remove the baffles for extra awesome. Not sure I'd bother with the seat cowl, £100 is a lot for a bit of plastic.

If you're gonna be riding it a fair distance I'd go for the gel seat as well, not a massive difference but quite nice.

That's a Lovely looking bike but from the side on pics I'm not happy with the headlight & clocks but they are easily changed. Cool looking bike apart from that though.

Yeah, the new lights aren't (imo) as nice as the older round ones like mine, but I might be biased there, don't overly mind them though.

You can however get carbon replacement light bowls, which would look pretty awesome on a black bike :D

I LOVE the new lights, one of the features of the bike that has drawn me to it.

Thanks for the input! :)

Arrows, well i'd be silly not too i think! How loud are they without the baffles? Too loud that it will raise suspicion? I was pulled on my last bike because i had the baffle out of my blue flame can.

I wasn't sure about the Ohlins either tbh, so thanks for saving me some money (if i get it). Was thinking because i live near some great roads (A507) and cool country roads that are a little bumpy at times. But like i said, will definitely get a test ride before hand. I'm not a new rider, I've done a few 10's of thousands, just haven't been out and about recently.

Alarm, that depends on how much i can get one fitted elsewhere.

Seat cowl, i love the single seat look and will never have a pillion. The gel seat is an idea though, will look into that definitely.

They are quite loud, but I've not been pulled over in ~9k miles of having the baffles out, but all depends on when/where/how bored the cop is :p

They're still better than stock imo with the baffles in, just nowhere near as much popping/banging, which is addictive :D

I ride up/down the A46 which is fast and sweeping, and bumpy at points, and don't have any issues at all with the suspension. On the other hand the standard Street I test rode years ago wasn't pleasent when going over bumps at high speed leant over. But it'll be interesting to see what you think on the test ride.

I can see the looks thing with the seat cowl, and I'll also never have a pillion most likely, it was more just the cost, £100 for that  :p

Every time I see a street triple, my desire to have one increases considerably.

I'm almost at the point where I want one over many of my current dream bikes!

I have a speedy, and I really like a lights now they have grown on me.

I also have the 3-in-1 zorst;

Note that I bought this bike 2nd hand fully tricked out for 7.2k. It only had 3k miles on the clock. Hunt around and you will save!

Is it sad that when I saw the 3rd pic I instantly noticed that front tyre, not sure why I didn't notice it in the 2nd :p, how you finding them? I put some PR3's on about 500 miles ago or so, liking them so far but not sure how good I'll find the wear... </hijack>

Personally I prefer the underseat cans to the low-boy, I know the low-boy is more power and lighter but I'm not too fussed :p I do want a decat though, if only cause I'm thinking it might make the off-throttle noise even more epic :D

In terms of security you will not find better than an Almax Immobilizer IV chain with corresponding Squire lock. I have this set and it is very very reassuring.

I'm not sure to be honest, I have not had the bike for very long and have moved from a Tiger 1050 that was written off before Xmas. I am unsure of the grip levels, hence the horrendous chicken strips. I am not too confident in the lean yet and need to learn my way around the bike, this does not put me in good stead to judge the rubber. The bike is an absolute monster though :)

Is that front tyre on the correct way round? It looks odd with the V pointing to the back.

Seems to be, mines the same...

Very nice! :)
How much different is the speed than the street? Apart from engine size, power and weight.

It's overall size as well and that's about it, personally I was originally planning to get the new Speed and test rode that, then the street r, and then the old speed and came away with the street r :p

The I felt that the street was a lot more nimble (it's about 25kg lighter) and the engine whilst not quite as torquey was a lot more lively in terms of revs which made it feel more fun, imo :)

Probably worth test riding both though, and I've not tried the speed r which might address some of the nimbleness.

Yes the tyre is definitely the right way round.

I have to agree the street is a cracking machine. The engine and gearbox is lifted from the daytona 675 it's butter smooth and fits the bike perfectly, its light, nimble and hell of a lot of fun to ride. That 675 triple is one of the best engines there is at the moment IMHO, and the gearbox is less "agricultural" than the 1050 equivalent.

I got the 1050 as it was tricked out to the nines, low mileage, cheaper than a new Street and fitted my insurance payout perfectly - plus I'm a sucker for the single sided swing arm and displacement of the 1050 having come from the Tiger. It makes a wicked "bang!" when you shut the throttle bodies too ;) Of course the suspension and brakes on the Speed are improved over the Street, but frankly it needs it, its a monster of a motorbike.

If you forced me at knifepoint I would probably concede that the Street R is the better "riders" bike however, but there's not much in it. The 675 just suits the bike better, its not as much of a handful, and you'll see a much improved miles per gallon (don't ask what the speed does...)

Strangely the Street is a higher insurance bracket than the Speed for some reason. Go figure.

Yeah, not much in it at all, and you are right about that single sided swingarm, should be a feature on all bikes :p

Didn't know about the insurance though, but then it's hardly expensive with a few years ncb (compared to my car and van policies at least :o)
