Got an odd one at the patents house.

Can't connect to printer.
Printer can be seen connected to router. But "fing" can't find it.. it won't connect to anything on the network.

And even doing a WPS connect it says connected but then you do a network test and it fails.

Looks like it's getting to the virgin hub and then getting stuck...

Any ideas

If I open the router in the browser it shows the printer with ip and mac.
Fing can't see it. I can traceroute it but it's not getting out.. if you know what I mean

I've just done a hard reset of the router. When that comes back online I'll see if its still there

Curious if the printer itself shows an IP on its screen.

Might be a stupid question, but it's not a 169.***.***.*** IP is it?

It was a 169 ip.
Which I know is wrong but not why it's wrong

Sorry the printers diagnostic printed a 169 ip

Sounds like the printers not talking to DHCP on the router then. If you can see it in the router settings it may be worth attempting to assign a reservation, then setting a static IP address on the printer to match.

Depending on the router I wouldn't always trust what it "sees" - mine caches a lot of the info so it shows devices listed that I know are powered off. If you can't ping the IP on the network then it's very unlikely to be connected. You mention doing WPS, can you plug an ethernet cable in and confirm it works that way.
