hi there

im having many troubles setting up raid 0 on a gigabyte k8nsc motherboard it is socket 939.

i made a floppy disk with the IDE RAID Drivers on but when I goto install them in windows setup it says error on such and such a line in 'txtsetup.oem' and I just cant get it to work.

if i start installing xp with the default drivers or whatever it uses it doesnt start booting XP setup after it asks to reboot near the start of the installation - after it copies the files to the hard disk.

does anyone know where I can get working PATA RAID Drivers for this motherboard or a way around the file not being found.

I tried setting the cd-rom to first boot device and then when it should load the XP install (Again after it has copied the files to the hdd) I get letters on the screen in odd places and it just hangs.

thanks for ANY help!

nevermind I managed to do it.

made a boot floppy from another motherboard CD with the same chipset and it worked a treat.

but the drives are old (2 x 80gb maxtor) one is 2mb and one has 8mb of cache yet it still works to my suprise.

regards,

ok mate, but be warned - its appaulingly bad I think. I ran hd tach earlier I will just go and run HD Tune now and post the results. :)

this is 2 x 80gb maxtor with different letters in the drive name - so bad as one has 2mb of cache and the other has 8mb...I think.

even so its not too bad loading xp and generally using the PC as it has a 3500+ @ 2.9GHz with 1024MB of BH5 RAM in.
