Good evening, I'm going to confess, I know nothing about Macs, I'm trying to help a friend. We don't seem to be able to upgrade from 10.13.6 so she can use the latest version of Lr. but in the upgrade option, it says no updates available. Does this mean the Mac is end-of-support? It's about 5 years old.. Thank you

Click on the Apple in the top left and select About This Mac.

You'll have the OS name and version number and below that, it'll tell you the exact model.

The oldest 21.5" iMac with the 4K display is from Late 2015 and can run Big Sur.

Anything from that model onwards should run Big Sur but it's not done through Software Update, it's done through the App Store. Open the store and search for Big Sur.
