Can't use MSN Messenger on new install?

Hi all.

Reformatted my second machine and went to download MSN Messenger. Noticed its the Live Messenger version now. No worries I thought, i'l download it and use that. It's for my second machine so will just be used now and again.

Installed and it wouldn't login. Thought it was the new version so I installed 7.5. I get the same error message. Also with Windows Messenger too.

Error message: 80048820.

I'm behind a router but my other machine and laptop can use it fine.

Firewall is off.

Any ideas? :confused:

My MSN won't log in at the moment - so I'm using a-msn, which is fine. It's strange cos I haven't changed anything. It just comes up with random login errors, or logs in but only shows 7 contacts in the list rather the usual 50ish. Web messenger is fine too - I'm going to give it a day or two to sort itself out...

Yep Web Messenger is fine for me too.

Everything is fine on all my other machines though. :confused:

Any ideas people?

I have the same problem, well I don't get an error code but it just doesn't sign in.
