CAPITAL ONE CUP FINAL Liverpool v Manchester City *** Spoilers ***

That Toure challenge, I suppose it depends whether you believe there was intent to harm. His foot glances lallanas shin but it's hardly a full boot, and nor is it takes down his leg or anything.

Not as bad as I was expecting after the reaction here. Probably worth a booking though. Would that have been a second?

Pellegrini is a class act "I'd rather lose the title than lose my word"... I'd rather him at United than Jose!

Give Klopp a couple of transfer windows and he'll have them up there for sure...

Thought we were the better team but City had the better players and shouldve won in normal time.

Mignolet, Moreno and Milner were all abysmal and they make me question if we should just have a blanket ban on all players with a surname that begins with M.

Lucas MotM, Sturridge needs to be sold.

Agreed on both points :)

[edit]Mignolet was one of the best players in the Liverpool side! Milner didn't do anything wrong either. Don't agree at all that Liverpool were the better side. Thought city were clearly better first half and it was even towards the end.

They were interviewing three Liverpool fans on SS earlier today and one of them said that the two best strikers in the league will be playing today, Aguero and... Sturridge.

I almost spat my drink out!

The issue with Mignolet is, no matter how well he plays there's always a basic error in him. I'd rather hear Mignolet played well rather than Mignolet more than made up for his mistake. Without his mistake we could've won on normal time.

He's nothing more than a turnip farmer. I'm drunk and have no idea what I mean by that but it sounds appropriate.

If by up there you mean challenging occasionally for top 4, I agree. He's a class act but not a miracle worker. Getting to the final of a tin tac tournament that literally no one gives a **** about until the final is not a good indicator. Actually some start to care if they are out of every thing and the semi finals are on.

Hell the FA cup is devalued to a token gesture by the big clubs, this one sits even below that. When I was a kid winning a cup was almost as good as the league but these days they just aren't taken seriously enough, sadly. I'd love them to address that. 4 champions league slots in the league or a cup to take part in a Euro competition Manu fans bragged about being happy to miss out on.

They are just used to paper over cracks when it suits.

:D

Fair enough I guess thanks for the honesty haha

Today summed up the problem we have with Mignolet but he can't be blamed for the defeat. Had we had anybody other than one of the very best keepers in the world we still lose that game and probably in normal time. The saves he made very few other keepers make.

Mignolet like Moreno and Sakho are capable of being excellent players but whenever you think they're looking good they'll do something absolutely ridiculous. Fwiw, Mignolet's the one of those that I'd back to eventually come good and become a 1st class keeper but I'm not sure we can wait for that.

I've said before that I wouldn't be overly fussed if we didn't sign a striker this summer and would rather we spent our money on sorting out our defence because it's been **** since Dalglish left - we need a keeper, 2 CB's, a LB and a DM.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.
Don't be alarmed it's just the open top bus backing into the garage

Open top bus for a League Cup? Oh, you're a Newcastle fan.

Mignolet needs to move on for the same reason Benteke does. His confidence is shot and he'll never get an easy ride now the spotlight is firmly on him.

I'm hoping Matip adds a bit of steel to our defence but at the moment Lucas looks leagues ahead of everyone else and he's not even a defender. He's just capable of organising the backline and playing the ball on the floor which is a bit concerning given we've spent over £50 million pounds on defenders.

Moreno, I've given him the benefit of the doubt over and over again in the hope he comes good but he's just Enrique with more pace :(

There's been times where Mignolet's confidence has looked shot to pieces but I don't see that now, which if anything is more of a concern.

I thought Lucas was excellent today but he's not a long term solution. Eventually teams will just target him and we'll be found out.

As for Moreno - I've come to the conclusion that all Spanish LB's are braindead. I think Purdy post a picture of him getting towed on his hover board thing by his dog - if ever a picture summed up a person it was that. He should be an excellent player but he's ****ing stupid and continually makes stupid decisions. That said, I wouldn't let him go. I'd keep him as cover or as an option in particular games. 2 of Lovren, Sakho and Skrtel to go and Mignolet too.
