Car at bodyshop, workers decided to take for jolly up

Was it a 30-mile round trip? I wonder if they used it to drop off a customer's car.

It was a round trip as in one continuous journey but was a all the way to the next town (motorway) around the local town then back up past the bodyshop and round the country lanes and back roads i wish the app recorded the speed. And even so, they told me i couldn't collect the car as it wasn't fixed!

On A more positive note my complaint on our works reporting app finally made it to someone who has escalated it to the leasing company. Hopefully they take it seriously and the garage get a talking too

Probably talk to trading standards if the company try to mug you off.

If any tickets arrive say the car was with the garage at the time. They will have to name someone or the police will start asking questions.

What about emailing the data/proof to the MD and asking for an explanation? Make them do some leg work and build the case for a complaint.

I get nervous with this too and check my dashcam footage. I also have a AppleTag in the car and check where it's whereabouts randomly in the day.

I am not sure the police will care, in terms of compensation, from what I read, the best you could do is negotiate with the dealer in terms of money off the work, providing the car is not damage and if you do pay, sign it with "Payment under protest" across the page on their copy. So if you do end up persuing this in civil court, they can't use that invoice as proof to say that you were happy to pay it and the case was closed.

If it's leased and the lease company are aware and will deal with it, I'd leave it.. If it was my own car, I'd be wanting an apology at the very least. it's just not knowing that messes with your mind...

Tesla's may have many faults, but you can stream data from the car and collect that yourself (I use teslamate self hosted).. This includes speed, power, tyre pressures etc, along with accurate GPS position.. it's very detailed and updated every second or two.

We've had the car in twice to garages
1. Kwik Fit for a screw in the tyre - I can see all they did was drive it from the car park, in to a bay, then later back out the bay to the car park.
2. Tesla for a boot strut issue (this morning) - I can see the individual journey's: carpark to their service bay, then later back to the car park, then finally a short around the block road test (max speed 33mph!)..
