Hi guys,

I'm looking to get a double DIN Satav/CD/DVD screen for my Astra. Budget of around £800 for the lot. I've seen the Kenwood 5240BT recommended quite a lot on various boards. I've priced up a kit below. Would I require anything else? I'm also open to suggestions for different units.

Thanks

Yes the Pioneer unit instead, had kenwood units in the past (not satnav) and i used a load before i got mine satnav, the pioneer satnav stuff was or still is miles ahead the kenwoods.

I looked at the Pioneer F900BT and its supposed to be very very unstable. Pioneers maps look loads better though, is there any model you recommend?

Which is why you spend a proper amount of money and get an avic ;)

Doing things on a constrained budget always = failure at some point.

Thats a shocker, software limitations aside i've found the latest (assume its the same on that unit) to be fine.

Got any links to those problems? Personally i wouldn't touch the JVC with a bargepole and Alpine seem to be out of the frame now, doesn't leave you with much choice but i'm not a huge kenwood fan of late, the Pioneer units (in most price brackets) seem to do everything the kenwoods can whilst sounding better.

Seems there is a new firmware out but I can't find much about it.

Doesn't seem ideal, thats really bad from Pioneer, my unit is a few years old now and my second Avic (Both fold out screens) but its been spot on, the latest updates sorted out most of the gripes i had with it, i was going to upgrade to the double din version last year but the lack of a screen i could remove put me off, the older models look better than these newer ones! Perhaps it might be worth hunting one of those out instead.

AVIC-HD3 etc all look better and have bigger screens but are a generation behind.

The HD3 looks a nice unit but bluetooth seems to be optional. Is there anything wrong with Kenwood?

On the units i had i simply didn't like the sound quality over the Pioneers, during my musings i also found the satnav interface much better on the Pioneers.

Bluetooth is a plugin module, not sure on cost, think they did the D3 at the same time, don't know the spec difference.

Does the Kenwood have a removable face?
