Car broken after 1150 miles, dealer being an arse

I've owned both new and second-hand cars from the following brands:

Citreon
Fiat (twice)
Ford (twice)
Renault
Toyota (just bought my third)
Land Rover
Volkswagen

Of those, my experiences with Toyota dealers has been the best - both here in LA and back home in Glasgow. They really do their best to help you out - not that I've ever needed anything other than scheduled services.

Land Rover have been a mixed bag - of the two dealers near me, one was prepared to leave me stranded for a fortnight when the car they sold me a month earlier wouldn't start one morning. The other, by contrast, couldn't have helped me more and sent a tow truck out to pick up my Freelander, left me new Disco to use whilst repairs were carried out (three days) and called me regularly throughout the process.

Ford and Renault were OK - nothing more, nothing less.

To soon to say with Volkswagen - recent service was OK and less than I expected, but they only changed the oil and rotated the tyres.

Citreon and Fiat were consitantly awful and no matter how good their cars are I will never buy another because of their dealer network.

In my opinion French dealer service and their cars are appauling, how they are still in business with the likes of Toyota, Nissan, Ford, etc baffles me.

I would say because they are really cheap, but they are not even that anymore

Nissan are shocking also. My boss has a top of the range Navara(?) and had some paint problems. When he took it back in the service manager and the salesman blamed everyone else for the paint error and discussed it as if my boss wasn't there.
They ended the conversation by walking away and then as an afterthought called over thier shoulders for him to 'bring it back next week'. No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, just thanks for the 27k now **** off.
