So got round to cleaning my car, with the two bucket method. The paint is covered in tree sap or something, feels like sand paper even after washing.

Should I "scrub" it with the wash mitt (lambs wool)
Now that its clean should I clay bar it, then hope it comes off?
Some special treatment?

Its only a fiesta, but I want to have it nice and clean again, what can I do?

Also how much do you think it would be to have a man come and do it, considering its a 3 door mk6?

get your self a clay kit if you dont have one and do the car.

First time i did my car i was very happy with it ..

Dont forget to polish the car after you have done the clay

Clay bar will sort it right out mate. Clay barred my car a few months ago when i first got it and it got out all the treep sap off the paintwork. Be prepared to get stuck in though, took me long enough :D Just for reference i used Meguiars Clay and a bottle of their quick details spray (acts as a lube).

So I clay it, polish and wax and it should all be good?

So definitely not the scrub method, and hope the clay takes all the sap away?

Thanks for the replies :D I have the quick detail kit and half a bar left, but am running out of the lubricant, what else can I use, A few drops of car shampoo in water?

Time I have plenty off having graduated :) and have elbow grease and some microfibre stuffs.
One thing that I still don't know how to do is polish, surely just rub on, rub around to break it down, and then keep rubbing till clear with a microfibre cloth?

Well thats the routine i would do, not sure if it's the 'right' way though!

Scrubbing would help a bit but seriously it's not worth the ball ache, the clay will get the crap off the paint with far less effort and will produce much better results.

Cheers, I think its due to parking next to a hedge. Its all over the car, and the aerial has a nice coating as well, should have maintained the car better, lesson learnt.

No wonder I have to park on that drive and the rest of the family park on the other.

yep clay it autoglym just brought a new clay and lube out tried it and its better then the megs one and should be avaliable from halfords

my fav clay is blit hamber and can be used with just water but have to buy online

of course always risk of inducing marring in paint with clay so i would go over it with autoglym srp as this is best swril filler on the market then wax of your choice or sealent

and yes you can use few drops of shampoo in water as a lube can destroy certain makes of clay bars though

I sometimes just wash the bit off the car I am going to clay and polish. saves time washing the car then to start the clay then wax if you don’t have much time .. Can do a bit each night then give it a good wash at the weekend.
