Last Friday I took the morning off to clean up and hopefully sell my Mum's Micra (The car i learnt to drive in!).

I gave it a uber-hoover. Even removing the spare wheel and cleaning it up and the well it sits in!

I then gave it a very thorough wash, infast the most thorough was it's EVER had!

It didn't look half-bad at all to be honest considering it's 16years old!

Anyway, the chap who arranged to come round turned up. A nice bloke, I took him for a test drive and flexed my sales skills which I havnt used for a while (Really enjoyed selling, always have though) and sure enough he bought the car for £325. Not bad on my part and he was happy. (Infact I think he paid more than the car was worth but I was not willing to admit that)

He was buying the car for his daughter as a suprise gift (no specific event).

Anyway, 4:25 this morning we get a call from the Police saying that our Micra has been driven around Bristol erratically and then when the 3 lads in the car stopped and were approached they all ran away.

As the V5 must not of been processed yet then the car is still ours according to the database. We passed on the new info to the Police and they were going to contact the new owner (we fortunately had a telephone number).

Anyway, it has just made me mad!

I spent a few hours cleaning it up. Me and Dad did a few jobs including replacing the front brakes (wish we didn't now so the idiots ended up dead in a ditch) and starter motor. So a fair few hours spent on it.

Then comes along the new owner and what a great and pleasant thing to do, buy this car for his daughter.

Then some complete ****s come along and steal it and have probably screwed it up!

RANT OVER!

You were luckier than my brother, he sold a silver XR2 a few years back to a guy. The Police turned up on his doorstep a few days later and arrested him, the car had been used in an armed post office raid and it was still registered in his name. All got sorted out in the end but was very funny :D.

When my first car (an 850cc mini) ran out of MOT there was no way it was going to get another, put it in the paper for £75 (what I paid for it with 12months MOT!). Big hairy Hells Angel type turns up and pays cash for it. Police turn up a few days later to ask some questions as it was used as a getaway in an armed robbery!

A mate of mine sold his car about 6 months ago. He came in one morning with a great story!...

He'd been woken up by the Police at 4am with them asking questions about where he'd been the previous evening!...

Here's the Wiltshire Times Story...

CITY DRAMA OF 'ARMED MAN IN CRASH'
Date : 02.06.05

Armed police, tracker dogs and a helicopter swarmed several city streets in the rush hour yesterday afternoon. One young witness told police one of two men who fled after a road crash in Tredworth, Gloucester was armed.

"They said there was a man with a gun and they were looking for him," said a nearby Stroud Road resident, who did not want to be named.

"They had flak jackets on and everything.

"Someone said they had seen a man with a gun."

Inspector Richard Smith explained that a police patrol car followed a Black Mazda Xedos off Tredworth Road, in to Wellesley Road and Osric Road, before turning in to Wheatstone Road at about 4.20pm.

The Mazda collided with a green BMW 318 in Bathurst Road. The area backs on to Stroud Road.

"No attempt was made to stop the vehicle and the two men ran off," he said.

"The car drew the attention of police because it was going quite fast past young children.

"A large number of police resources attended the collision which occurred in Bathurst Road at approximately 4.20pm.

"Due to the concerns of community safety in relation to the possibility of a weapon being carried by one of the two males that ran off from a Mazda Xedos, we responded accordingly."

He said the response was at a high level because of what the witness had told them. Police did not pursue the car, said Insp Smith.

On Wednesday night no arrests had been made and the search continued.

The two men who fled the scene were described as black or of ethnic origin.

Witnesses who have not spoken to police should call them on 0845 *** **** or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0845 *** ****.

He'd only sold it that afternoon so the V5 was still in his local post box!!...

Turns out theu'd only bought the car to 'Pull the Job' they got busted for!

The Police confiscated the Car and the £275 the Blaggers had used to buy it from him!... Though he did get the Money back!... But after about 4 months!.. Once they'd cought the two and cleared my mate of any involvment!.

My Mum has spoken with the new owner.

Turns out the Micra was stolen and then joy rided around.

The gearbox is now screwed as is the relatively new clutch. I assume it will be written off.

The new owner had to pay £100 to get the car out of the police pound.

OK, at the end of the day we got our money for the car, doesn't make this any nicer a situation.

If I knew it was gonna be stolen I wouldnt of fitted new brakes to the front (there was literally no pad left  ) so the little ****** would have killed themselves.

He sold a Mazda Xedos for £275? Blimey, was it an utter dog? Surely even the oldest of these are worth more than that.
