Hi all,

A 2 fold question:

1. Is there a car database out there that where you can filter by almost everything. bhp, mpg, tax, insurance group, 0-60 etc? I'm finding it difficult to get all that information in one place to be filtered.

2. I currently have a 2011 Seat Ibiza SC Sport 1.2Tsi (105ps). It's a great little car given it does 50mpg, £30 tax, low insurance, looks good and drives very well.

I've been contemplating for a while switching for something different though. Ideally something that is still going to be economical and not cost the earth to insure (8 years no claims), but with a noticeable chunk more power.

My journey to work is 20 miles. The first 8 are motorway but then it's a bit stop-start and A roads. So something that's nippy off the mark is probably best.

No requirements over doors, seats or boot space.

I may well be asking for the holy grail and I'm sure you guys will inform me thusly if that's the case.

Golf GTI or similar sounds like it would fit the bill on everything bar economy.

There's no way you are getting 50mpg once you get onto the stop-start A roads but you'll definitely see an increase in your fuel costs pretty much no matter where you go.

For the mileage you do, a diesel will probably cost you more over the life of the car but it'll probably feel a bit quicker at any given power level because of the torque. I recently had a 63 plate Seat Leon FR and that had a decent turn of pace in town situations, so might be worth looking at that kind of car.

Yes there are many. The company I work for has them for most European countries for the last 20 years, along with valuations data, crash repair data, service and maintenance data etc.

You have to pay though :p
