hey,

Does anyone know of a company such as theaa or some such that can inspect a car, find exactly what the fault is and put it in writing so I can take it back to the mechanoc that was supposed to have fixed it and get him to rectify the problems?

I'm totally fed up of the trial and error way of changing one part and hoping that fixes it, and if not try another one as the cost is mounting up rapidly, as well as the fact that I do far too nany miles for my car to be off the road for days at a time.

cheers guys :)

Tom.

Could try a multipoint check thingy. One of those AA/RAC all over tests, IIRC it's about £150 though. Bit pricey, but they can't argue with the findings.

P.S. Told you so :( .

I'm having the same issue mate.

Go to an independant garage (one you know is good) and get them to do you a report. They'll usually charge you the labour time, so in my case it was £80 for 2 hours work when inspecting the gearbox.

They'll write you a report and if you take the 'bad' mechanic to court you can claim back the report fee.

Try a local Bosch garage, IIRC they have a complete set of equpiment.

eh? I don't mean diagnostic via the obc33 port or whatever its called, I mean someone to tell me EXACTLY what the mechanical fault is.

MrSix this is the indy garage that I before this incident trusted, sorting the mess another garage originally made of it. I'm getting totally fed up :(

benneh, these problems aren't ones that have just happened they have all come about because of the shoddy job done when replacing the clutch.

basically, changing into gers requires the revs o match or it won't go in gear. this means having to blip the throttle on the way down through gears in even normal situations. I personally think that it is something clutch related as when I press the pedal all the way to the floor whilst travelling at say 40 in 2nd the revs don't drop at all.

Sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging.

Good luck getting a garage to admit they ballsed up.
