In that particular case yes, a sensor fault is the most likely problem. However, you won't believe the number of people (including garages) that automatically fit new lambda sensors when they get lambda related fault codes though, when there are dozens of faults that can throw the same error.

The pointing I'm making is that on board diagnostics report the symptoms of a fault, not necessarily the cause.

We had a Renault Kangoo in a while back, that had come from a commercial vehicle garage so we could scan it and replace the abs sensor that was at fault and putting the light on.

CV boot clip had come undone on the offside and covered the abs ring with grease...two minutes with some brake and clutch cleaner and an old paintbrush (plus a new clip on the boot) and all was well. They are amazing things these scanners but a little detective work can be a good thing also...
