car disk rotor corrosion

Hi.

Im suffering from brake pedal vibration / noise while low speed braking on my W reg Scenic, looking at the front disk rotors they look slightly corroded. I take it this would explain the noise / vibration?

What would be the best way to remove (or at least reduce) the corrosion short of replacing the disc rotors? A few hard stops / left foot braking around an empty industrial estate car park? Car is due an MOT / Service soon in two months so would prefer to hold off until then before fitting new rotors if necessary.

Thanks in advance

Brake discs, damnit, we're not American.

It may just be surface rust, do some light braking then get out and look. If not, you could take them off and skim them...

icyshore, unlikely to be the disc pads, as the original garage I went to in an attempt to fix the cv joint (they replaced the wrong side drive shaft!) had also fitted new pads front and rear.

Nozzer, I'll try some light but long braking and see if any surface rust gets removed by the brake action.

cheers

--edit-- just to say I have done some hard braking in an empty industrial estate car park, and the brakes are now a bit smoother!
