Yea it's in the wet where it becomes dangerous. It's easy to make a tyre that grips in the dry, but not one that also grips in the wet. That's why expensive tyres are expensive.
Mix a high performance tyre with a budget one and one side of the car will grip much better than the other. Which is never good.
