i want to keep my factory radio on my nissan. am looking at using one of these fm transmitters. has anyone got one of these or similar and are they any good?

what sort of performance can i expect

thanks :)

^^^thanks for replies

does the performance of the transmitter have any bearing on the location of the cars aeriel?

i was reading on another forum that if the car ariel is located at the front of the car (i.e. front of roof) the device works ok as it's nearer to the transmitter. car aeriels using the heated screen do not work as well as they are further away from the transmitter?

anyone have any experience of this?

It is more determined by where you live. IF you live anywhere near london you will find it will struggle to work due to too much interference from local radio.

I live in berkshire and find it perfectly fine around 94.8 and only move it up or down when going between areas of the country depending if local/national radio adjust their signal.

i used one when i borrowed my dads focus to go away for the week. i didnt get any interferance with it at all. i wouldnt expect to be able to play it loud through a good setup but it did the job fine for normal listening.

i picked up the cheapest i could find in tesco.

FM transmitters are just garbage. Get a Harmon Kardon Drive + Play, at least that way you can physically plug it into the aerial, rather than rely on a crappy FM over-the-air transmitter that hasn't got the power to transmit static!

I've got aa Mcally Drivecup (from Next of all places) and its actually quite good.. no interferance no pops or fuzzyness...

My car is a civic wit the aerial at the back and the transmitter sits nicely in the drivers cup holder..

I'm quite happy with it!!...
