Looking for suggestions of hatchback suitable for a tall (6'2") driver which has decentish bootspace for storage of bicycle.

I did have a seat in a ford focus today, although if I folded the rear seats I couldn't get the drivers seat back far enough :(

Reasonable priced and mileage estates seem to be rarer than hair on hens teeth, so I think I'll be best served by a largish hatchback.

What do the tall drivers in ocuk forums drive? (funnily enough I can fit in the parents Toyota Yaris with room to spare, pity it's just too small otherwise)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

as to be expected, im going to suggest a ford mondeo :]

Boot is fairly big, and with the seats folded flat i still have more than enough room and I'm 6'4 :)

didn't realise you were a midget, paradigm... ;)

to the OP - check out mk3 Golf wagons. cheap, go on forever and quite easy to find.

I'm a smidgen over 6'3" and found it really comfortable to drive. quality velour in the povo-spec ones too.

you can fit a manta engine (with gearbox) and axle in the back too...so a bike should be a piece of pish.

I'm 6'5" and can fit in a Rover 214 Hatch, with a bike in the back. Comfy as well and just high enough so my head doesn't hit the roof.

I had been thinking about the Mondeo, it'd probably be a more sensible sized car for me than a huge estate. Plus there are plenty of Mondeo's around for 4-5K which would probably get me a better car than a 4-5K estate.

However part of me thinks I should be doing my bit for the environment and get a wee fuel efficient car, however I think I'd struggle to get such a thing which would be comfy for a tall driver. So barge it's going to be I think.

cheers

Get a TDCI engined mondeo then :] Also, the fuel consumption difference between a mondeo and a focus sharing the same engine is going to be quite small.

Interesting!!

I made a post a while back about trying to adjust my seat rollers so i can get more legroom.

Reason being..i'm 6ft 8" and im stuck with an mg zr (long story..illegal to sell cos finance from previous owner etc)..small rover 25 shape..was pretty crap for legroom until i finally got pee'd off and went medieval on the car seat with a hacksaw (yes really!) its now..more of a saloon seat than a sports seat :p ..very comfortable..and lots more legroom :D

Remember kids..."If in doubt...get the hacksaw out" :D

My brother-in-law is 6'7 and drives a Ford Ka. He almost has to move his knee to look in the wing mirror, makes me laugh when i see him driving it.

i am 6.2 also its not that tall i have a mx5 and fit perfectly therefore most other cars are fine.. never had a problem in all the cars ive driven apart from a series II land rover i couldnt turn the wheel as my knees were in the way

you'll be fine.

i find the mondeo pretty bad for the size of the car, the electric seat is defintly slightly better though. The most comfortable thing i have driven is a BMW 523. I find its how low the seat goes not how far back makes the biggest differerance.

Surprised you don't fit in a focus, my friend has a st170 and at 6ft 4 he seems to fit fine.

I didn't really get much chance to sit in the focus as the salesman was hovering around way to much. The concern I had would be that I wouldn't be able to fold the rear seats flat if I had the drivers seat back far enough for me.

hmmm, i have my seat no where NEAR all the way back when im comfortable, if i have the seat all the way back i cant reach very well at all, but I dont know if they revised how far the seat can go back when they changed the seat colour/material etc on the 2000ish interior changes
