Had a date last night so ended up driving into town, parked in a quiet road behind a bar. When I got home I realised the VX had been keyed.

Deep one on bonnet
Both Wings
Both doors, one quite deep
Both rear arches
Deep once across the back and accros both badges and both perspex light units.

In fact, only 2 panels and the hardtop hadn't been touched

To make matters worse, some jobsworth gave me a parking ticket too, and in all likelihood judging by the time, after it had been keyed Having gone back there are a couple of "Restricted Zone" signs up, but there's no good reason why people shouldn't be able to park there, there were dozens of other cars parked on one side of the road, virtually no traffic through their either.

The bonnet one is the worst, pretty deep, the rear is bad too, across the lights which will require taking them out and many, many hours of sanding to get out.

There are 2 CCTV cameras there, but I'm not even going to bother reporting it, the old bill won't be at all interested, far more interested in making money through tickets.

I can't really go through the insurance, firstly a £450 (I think) excess and secondly the loss of NCB (I have 3 years at the moment) would be crippling.

I showed it to my mate who is a spray painter and he said pretty much the whole car would need spraying.

I also considered Chipsaway, but stumbled across reviews of a Mer scratch repair kit. So I bought one today and will hopefully be able to do it myself. It's pretty time consuming but I can't see why it should be impossible, it is only paint after all...

I've filled in all the areas with touch up paint, next step is to flat it with emery paper all round, maybe paint again, flat it again then use clearcoat, flat it again, buff and wax.

It's sad, but you can't risk leaving anything even resmbling a flash car near anywhere alcohol and non-petrolheads will be.

How was the date?

edit: Report it, you won't hear anything back but it's important the crime figures aren't lowered due to people not reporting things.

Sorry to hear that mate. The scum don't appreciate people with nice things, and they believe it's acceptable to ruin things for others.

Hope you sort it out.

Thats absolutly shocking!

Pics?

You seem quite calm, I'd be majorly angry if someone had done it to me,.

sorry to hear that, dont know why people do it, jealousy! hope it all comes out ok with your repair kit!

Sorry to hear that. I couldn't ever do anything like that to someone elses pride and joy. Hope you get it sorted out.

My car got keyed last week... by my mum! She fell over when going into the garage and took a swipe on the way down... never mind! Going to touch it up and polish tomorrow I think :)

Why, do people do this, happened before on the forums, whats this country coming too. You have something nice, and jealous **** have to spoil it for you. Prob on the dole, nothing good in their lives who get kicks out of ruining others.

Fingers crossed on the scratch removal kit, I do not recommend chipsaway after sending some packing the other week after giving them a try.

And then onto the insurance, even if you have protected NCB, why the ridiculous excess on criminal damage what this is? Do we not pay enough as it is for them to be so uncompassionate in these type of cases.

Good luck mate, you have proved a point regarding the police, yes they wont do a thing, why should they, theirs nothing in it for them!

I don't have any pics before I started working on it, it's in the garage now, but I'll take one of the front, that'll give you the idea.

I was angry, but realised it's not going to change anything, just need to move on, get it repaired, at the end of the day it happened, nothing I can do about it now, except never take it in town again.

The date went really well, judging by the goodbye kiss she enjoyed it ;) Am seeing her again on monday.

thats not just a keyed car, thats a targetted attack.

christ, i know some ***** will walk past a car and key a panel, but to do the whole car!

That's gutting, I feel for you, esspecially having such a nice car

My door got keyed down to the primer a couple of months back, and that was bad enough...and my car is only an 8 year old 306 diesel for god's sake, not exactly anything much to be jealous of, even for some of the pond life around here

One day I'd like to own a flash car, but things like this make me wonder if it's really worth the heartache. At least with my old Pug I can just chalk it up as another battle scar...

:( bad luck fella, some ppl are just pure scum and can't face anyone having a nice car.

Let me know how the repair goes, i need to go a key scratch on the Clio and a few little scratches on the MX, don't want to pay really since spray shops charge a fortune!

A neighbour of mine had every panel on his GT3 'improved' with a figure of eight pattern, through to the metal  .

What a sickner.

Personally i feel anyone caught caught damaging someone elses property should be forced to pay for the damage by doing hard labour for minimum wage until the damage and admin costs are paid for that would stop the little *******
