Had a date last night so ended up driving into town, parked in a quiet road behind a bar. When I got home I realised the VX had been keyed.
Deep one on bonnet
Both Wings
Both doors, one quite deep
Both rear arches
Deep once across the back and accros both badges and both perspex light units.
In fact, only 2 panels and the hardtop hadn't been touched
To make matters worse, some jobsworth gave me a parking ticket too, and in all likelihood judging by the time, after it had been keyed Having gone back there are a couple of "Restricted Zone" signs up, but there's no good reason why people shouldn't be able to park there, there were dozens of other cars parked on one side of the road, virtually no traffic through their either.
The bonnet one is the worst, pretty deep, the rear is bad too, across the lights which will require taking them out and many, many hours of sanding to get out.
There are 2 CCTV cameras there, but I'm not even going to bother reporting it, the old bill won't be at all interested, far more interested in making money through tickets.
I can't really go through the insurance, firstly a £450 (I think) excess and secondly the loss of NCB (I have 3 years at the moment) would be crippling.
I showed it to my mate who is a spray painter and he said pretty much the whole car would need spraying.
I also considered Chipsaway, but stumbled across reviews of a Mer scratch repair kit. So I bought one today and will hopefully be able to do it myself. It's pretty time consuming but I can't see why it should be impossible, it is only paint after all...
I've filled in all the areas with touch up paint, next step is to flat it with emery paper all round, maybe paint again, flat it again then use clearcoat, flat it again, buff and wax.
