Hi,

Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to get insured (on your own car) to drive in Europe if you are under 21? If so how much (ballpark) is it likely to cost for 2 weeks? I cant seem to find any decisive info either way online.

Cheers

(In particular France and Spain)

Yes it is, most insurers will allow European cover for a nominal extra fee for the rest of your policy.

If anyone suggests Dayinsure I will park a Mondeo on their drive.

Thanks. At the moment I can drive my Mum's car under a 'any other driver' policy. Do you think it would be possible to get this extended or would I have to get special cover with me as the primary driver?

Obviously the best thing to do is call the insurance firm and ask, but I could do with knowing tonight whether or not our roadtrip plan is at all practical.

Most insurers cover you automatically in certain european contries. For others you will need a 'Green card' which you will have to get from your insurers. Its really best to phone up your insurer and see what they say because all are different.

Also you need to be 18 to drive in France iirc so if you aren't 18 then its a no go allready :D Also make sure you pack all the essentials while driving through countries like spare bulbs, warning triangle...etc.

Is it in France that you have to carry a spare pair of glasses if you wear them while driving? I know there's one European country that requires this.

Can anyone confirm whether or not contact lenses count as a spare pair of glasses? (ie: If I had a pair of glasses and a pair of contact lenses is that ok?)

does that mean you'll build me a driveway as well?

This sounds like a good deal to me :D
