car insurance question

I get what you're saying mate. :)

If you take out a policy before the operation and then the operation gives you restrictions, you can then just call the insurer and say "I've just had an op and now have xx restrictions, could you note it on my policy.". They may charge extra (I do not know), they may also say they can't offer cover due to the restriction (depending on what it is) in which case they can cancel it, but should give you back the premium (if you paid in full), or stop taking payments if you are paying monthly, although they will likely charge a cancellation fee (normally ~£50). :)

it's a case of 'i take my chances' and at worst i cancel the insurance. i'll make sure i do it monthly then. :)

Yeh theres not really an issue here. I've had operations on my knee before. A ligament reconstruction. I was told by by doctor I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 weeks after the operation. I told the insurance company, after the six weeks, I notified the insurance company and told them that the doctor said I could drive again. Sorted.

You can always suspend the policy, until you are in a position to use it again.
