Car is not pulling like it should between 1k and 2k RPM - could it be water in the system?

Because I'm also loathed to get rid for sentimental reasons and I'd like a quick fix for it!

Still think its the MAP sensor? I've found a few for £17 here and there and may get one cheaper at a scrappy!

the MAP and MAF are 2 different sensors, at least on most cars. The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor would traditionally sit after the airbox and before the intake manifold. The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor lives on the air intake manifold and it probably isn't that. The MAF will likely be more expensive than the MAP. If you can find one for not much money then you can try just changing it, but it's a scatter gun approach to resolving a problem when you haven't performed the test described and second hand units can be hit and miss - what if you change it and the unit you receive is broken as well? They're sensitive items. You could be chasing your tail for ages.

Who cares if you have an error in the short term? Just unplug the connector and take it for a drive. The car will be fine, it will just use the default air values. It may not even throw a code if you only take it for a short run

How much is it for a garage to clear the codes anyway? How much is a cable to clear the codes on a ford yourself? It is that exorbitant? personally I'd pick up a cable and do it myself, even if it isn't the MAF it'll likely tell you what is actually causing the problem and it'll help with any future issues. Your fiesta forum will tell you the best way to go about doing this for the least amount of cash

Not quite sure how to progress with this one. I've spent some time driving it around, now we've had no rain, and the issue has not returned. Its pulling as it should and not a single hickup.

This makes me think the rain is affecting its running.

One thing I do want to get sorted is the fact the intake doesn't have its proper fitting, which may have a vent or mechanism for filtering out water.

Would it be worth sourcing one or what could be an effective replacement?

The Fiesta forums

85% worn clutch lol, who told you that? They are clearly a genius.

Water won't be getting into the engine from the intake unless there's a big splash infront of the car. Leaning towards MAF or injectors
