Car issues

Which Japanese or affordable German 7 seater would you recommend then? :)

toyota previas are really spacious but loads of them at high mileage.

when buying one check the rear suspension bushings, whether the steering is direct likely steering bushes need changing if steering feels loose or slightly unresponsive) and whether the turbo is working (ie picks up speed quickly). apart from that, they should be solid cars. check for cambelt replacement history also.

other options are avensis verso (again loads of them at high mileage) and the mazda 5.

So high mileage (and horrible) Toyota Previas and Avensis Verso's are comparable to a 2007 S-Max in terms of comfort, refinement, and toys? :p

At least the S-Max is still car-like and doesn't shout "I have completely given up on life" :D

A quick look on Autotrader and Previa's and Avensis versos are relatively rare anyway around the Ops budget (assuming ~£3k-£4k for an SMAX of that age/miles).

Mazda 5's of that budget/age have enough issues that I wouldn't consider them (DPF/Oil starvation/Suspension/Tyre Wear)

We're at the 6k budget, and will be looking at more s-maxs. I'll take a look at the previa's/versos to see what's there. I've limited our search on the s-max to the titanium, I figure if we're going for an older car might as well get a top spec one.
