Car Misfiring

You're probably looking at ditching the car if it's head gasket. If you've done damage to the head gasket then you'd require at least a new head, plus lots of time for a mechanics, I'd say around £500...

This is the worst case scenario, but I'd imagine you'd be fine and it's just a blockage or dodgy connection.

Open up the oil cap and check for mayonaise.

If this is what you come out with stop giving advice to people please.

Require at least a new head? Then what... at worst a complete new car? What rubbish.

I'm fully aware of the advice I'm giving, I'm just rubbish with the terms I use. It was a quick post whilst at work, so might have given the wrong impression.

Obviously you won't require a new head, you'd require a new head gasket, once removed you'd need to check to see if the block is warped / crack. If it is the head will need to be skimmed, or replaced... yadda yadda yadda.

And yes, a 10 year old peugeot 106, if you have to replace the HGF you might as well replace the car in it's entireity. It's worth what? £700? If that?

Wind your neck in.

Changing the head gasket on the TU engines is a piece of cake. If it was worth £700 than it would be well worth doing, IF that is the problem which seems unlikely.

Give the inside of the dizzy cap a wipe with a clean cloth. Next! :p

Don't spray stuff on the HT leads, just wipe them with a clean cloth too - otherwise stuff sticks to them and the problem gets worse.

Providing there isn't further damage.

After all, we're talking about Neil here (who's a friend off the boards). The guy can't even take the engine cover of, there's no chance of him swapping a HG out!

As said on MSN, ensure the HT leads are connected properly. It's likely you have an issue with the coil pack. Especially as two of the cylinders don't appear to be firing correctly.
